What If God Won’t Accept Me?

This is a fear, based on an untruth, that keeps many so far away…

Who Does God Call?

The automatic assumption of most people is that God only deals with “good” people. This is exactly the opposite of what God Himself says, “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:32 ESV) The way back to God begins with awareness that we have failed to live perfectly and without sin. The approach to God begins ONLY as this is understood.

The Sacrifice

It does NOT mean, then, that there is no way back, because God in an act of undeserved kindness and love, removed the obstacle of our sin permanently when He sent his son to die on the cross. This sacrifice of his life was an atonement that removed all sin and its stain from the human race. Simply hearing, believing, and receiving His Son, places upon humans the acceptance that Jesus himself enjoyed with the Father.

Acceptance

Hard to understand perhaps…yet absolutely true. God accepts us because all sin, all shortcomings, and whatever else anyone might suggest, has been lifted off our shoulders, and God the Father warmly and enthusiastically embraces us into His arms. We entered the status of permanent acceptance, despite being unworthy of it. This truth we must understand and embrace…with great rejoicing.

End the Argument

Allow the vision of Jesus on the cross to permanently end any and all arguments in the mind about whether God won’t accept you because of your sin…(or any other reason). He specifically sent Jesus to make it so that He can accept you despite your sin. Think about that a moment: He sent His son to die on the cross just so He could have a relationship with you. And Jesus did so willingly.

God Loves You

The Bible makes God’s thoughts very clear about this:

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8 ESV)
