After all, no one is perfect. Isn’t “not too bad” acceptable?
It all depends on one critical definition. What does the word “good” mean?
Asking a man who is partially blind to read the fine print of a dictionary doesn’t produce much of an response.
God's perspective is that after humanity’s rebellion against the God of love, they lost their accurate moral vision. Our definition of “good’ was seriously compromised. We lost the ability to clearly see what true goodness even looks like.
Therefore, God had to reestablish ability for our moral vision. Phase one of his plan began on a mountain called Mount Sinai when He wrote the 10 core tenants of goodness on two stone tablets. (the 10 Commandments)
This step was designed to reveal our poor vision. And to us to ourselves. The more one looks at these 10 laws of God, the more hopeless our condition appears to look. Our definition of good is actually far from what real goodness really is.
At the point of hopeless, it becomes clear that NO ONE is qualified in terms of "goodness' to enter the presence of a God of perfect love and holiness.
A different kind of answer was needed. One that was able to abolish our deep lack of goodness in the deepest places of our heart.
God has provided that answer...keep reading...you will find it.
